Itinerary:
Our expert tour guide will pick you up at 7 am from your hotel in either Cairo or Giza to Alexandria which is 220 km away from Cairo. Arrive Alexandria around 9:30 am and start your day tour by visiting the Catacomb of Kom El-Shoqafa, one of the world’s largest Roman burial sites, the Catacombs are one of Alexandria’s most popular attractions. Descend into a network of underground passages, tombs, and antechambers via a spiral staircase over a three-level tombstone, a large Roman-style banquet room, where relatives of the deceased traditionally hosted memorial meals. Inside are 2nd Century statues of Sobek and Anubis wearing Roman Armor.
Proceed to the Roman Theater, of which seats are made out of marble stones and the floor has a big section of mosaic and a pleasure garden surrounded by Roman Villas and baths.
Our Alexandria day tour continues with a visit to the exterior of the medieval Citadel of Qaitbay, a defensive 15-century fortress built on the ruins of the light house of Alexandria; one of the ancient world’s seven wonders of the Middle Ages.
Continue to Al Morsi Abu Al Abbas mosque(from outside), an elaborate structure built to honor a Sufi Saint, and have a free walk on the Cornish.
Drive along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, and pass by the Alexandria Modern Library, built between 1995 and 2002, to hold over 8 million books. Have a chance to stop for a memorial photo in front of the great Library.
Take a break for lunch in a seafood restaurant overlooking the Sea, then travel in comfort back to your hotel in Cairo.
